So here’s todays updates…
#Jacksonville Jaguars had a busy day after not only agreeing to play in London for the two years the Rams pulled out of (2013, 2014) but agreeing to play an extra two years on top taking them through 2015 and 2016. The question is will they have their prize asset Maurice Jones-Drew. MJD has opened up to the possibility being traded after holding out from any pre-season training after demanding a new contract. Jags owner Shad Khan has said that he is not willing to negotiate with MJD who has 2 years left on his 5 year $31 million contract.
#Colt McCoy has stated that he will not be leaving Cleveland after being told that rookie Brandon Weeden. McCoy was quoted as saying “I got drafted here, I spent a lot of time here, I feel comfortable with what we’re doing, We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs, and I’m a Cleveland Brown. That’s what I am.” Weeden who was a drafted 22nd overall this year is in a very unique position as he is a 28-year-old rookie. Weeden who took some years out of college to pursue a career in baseball returned to college after being drafted by the New York Yankees in 2002. He played a for a few minor league set ups before returning to college 2007.
#Michael Vick was taken out of the Philadelphia Eagles game against the New England Patriots on monday night with a rib injury. The x-ray showed no broken bones and he is to be sent for an MRI scan tomorrow This seems to be a common thread for Vick who missed 5 games last season with various injuries, leaving the question will Vick be a good fantasy pick this year??
#Miami Dolphins first year coach Joe Philbin has chosen to name rookie Ryan Tannehill as starting quarterback. Philbin choose Tannehill over Matt Moore who started 12 games for the Dolphins last season. Moore reacted in a very dignified way to the news telling collected press “I was disappointed,” he said. “You want to play. As a leader of this team, you want to be back there with the guys. But I understand the decision, and I support the decision. I’m behind coach Philbin and Ryan 100 percent and will be ready if they need me.”. A factor that may have won the job based on offensive coordinator Mike Sherman being his coach through college at Texas A&M and bringing the same offense to Miami this year.
#Mike Wallace has dropped hints he will end his holdout and report back to Steelers training camp this weekend. Wallace will reportedly sign his $2.7million 1 year deal but he has been holding out as he wants a long-term deal.
#Seattle Seahawks are set to start rookie quarterback Russell Wilson in Fridays game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
#Buffalo Bills rookie Cordy Glenn has been handed the starting left tackle job. Glenn who was the 41st overall pick in the draft was told today by Bills coach Chan Gailey who said “Cordy’s got great ability…..Ability’s not the issue. It’s just playing time. He needs as much playing time as he can get. I think if he gets playing time he’s got a chance to be a really good football player.”
#Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has told fans that he doesn’t expect Miles Austin to report until week 1. Austin hasnt trained since August 4th after straining a hamstring.
#49ers expect Brandon Jacobs to be fit for the opener after injuring his left knee on the weekend.
#New Orleans Saints have traded an undisclosed draft pick for Seahawks linebacker Barrett Ruud. Ruud who is a seven-year veteran on the NFL has been brought in after a string of injuries to the Saints linebacker corps.
